Im build a village in SMP and want all the houses in the town to be the same. So give me some house designs that look nice from the outside. (keep in mind its survival so dont make it like gold bricks) but what ever you think looks cool post a screenshot please and a little info. Ill repspond back with any questions you have.
Also still keep in mind that this is a town and not a castle so im looking for things small like around 8x 10 it can be smaller or bigger just not like 100x200 castle thanks.
It may not go with the look you're trying to give your town but I like this:
The houses in this pic, from top left to bottom right, are: Stacked stone slabs and glass block (my favorite) Cobblestone (most economical) Smooth stone, sand, sandstone, wood, stone brick, netherack, brick. I was going to build some more, but the ones in the back were getting hard to see.
They are all 9x9, which is a good size for a roomy house, enough room for a bed, crafting table, some chests, etc. Being 2 blocks tall inside stops endermen from teleporting in, And they are modular, butt some up together to make larger buildings, stack them, build them on their sides and let people question your sanity.
a ladder in the center gives roof access, and can be extended into a basement, for additional storage, portal room, mine access, who knows.
Glass can be either panes or blocks, but panes go farther for their resource cost.
A number of variations can exist, particularly the window configurations and roof battlements, the addition of netherack on the battlements can make for some interesting lighting. Doors can be put on any, or all sides.
The bare-bones house (sandstone, center house in this picture) uses 119 sandstone, 5 glass panes, 1 door, 1 trapdoor (roof access) 51 wood planks (second story floor) 6 torches and 3 ladders. Note that while the windows are not necessary, having them can help stop you from walking into the middle of a creeper convention.

If you build a man a fire he will be warm for a day,
If you set a man on fire he will be warm for the rest of his life.

Reminds me of the architecture of Skingrad in Oblivion, in case you're familiar.
What're those walls made out of? alternating white and light grey wool?
